Harney and Sons Tea and John

H & S teaWe have found it in the past at many places outside of America. On our recent vacation at Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer in South of France we again found it at a local cafe restaurant. It is Harney & Sons tea. Harney &  Sons tea products are everyplace in the world. Every time when it happened I called John Harney and told our exciting discovery. This time I could not do that. John departed to the heaven.

After coming back from our vacation I found in the piles of mails John’s obituary and eulogy which was sent by the Harney family. I would love to share with you one of the eulogies from his family.

“In our early teens there was this radical new listening device called an eight track tape. The family station Wagon had one. John, Mike and I were riding with Dad (John Harney) and we asked if we could put some cool music on. We happened to have Steffen Wolf on hand and slid the tape into the console and told Dad it is best to listen to loud. Dad drove quietly for just a few minutes. The windows were all open and we were listening to Born to be Wild. Suddenly Dad hit the eject button and tossed the cartridge out the window, without a pause in driving, and simply muttered….’garbage’.”

I can picture John Harney’s golden smile when he did it.
